It has been a good many years since the vampiress have ventured far outside of Jherra, or even its capital Jherrazad but that feeling she felt back at home wasn't something the vampiress could ignore. Maricul have lived a long, long time and have seen many great and horrible things created different powers and abilities but nothing that could have evaporated the energy of an entire area in the matter of what she felt back home. That was noteworthy enough for investigating. The Serpent also knew that a war was taking place here and she would do her best to stay out of it, not wishing to get in the Ajerian, Abyss or Damned way. Hopefully neither faction would get in hers. That would just make things difficult.
Maricul's attire consisted of a sleeveless black shirt that buttons up at the front, a matching pair of black pants and combat boots. On her hands were black leather fingerless gloves and over her top was a blue trench coat that stopped around her thighs and concealed the pistols 9mm Bloodlust and 11mm Blessing while the belt on her pants held most of her knives, other knives were hidden on her person such as the pants pockets. Brown eyes scanned the black desert around her as she moved forward, keeping her guard up as she walked. This place... There was no telling what awaited her in The City of the Dead.

There are many things one should expect out here in these dangerous grounds should you not be allied with those who occupy it. Flesh eating monsters may prowl, powerful leaders, lowly soldiers, or something that no one else knows of and it could be too late if you don't get away. But. No one. Suspects--
"SHINY!"
This thing.
Maricul will see a blur of yellow hair before a child in a black dress and thigh high stockings dives into sand not too far from her. The limbs flail about, considering she's buried up to her waist trying to get the apparently shiny object.
It took a lot of struggling, but she freed herself and observed her prize in her hands: a bent coin. Despite it's apparent worthlessness, she was staring at it as if though it were a lost treasure.
"Shiiiiiinnnnyyyyyy..."

The Serpent continued on her path in The City of the Dead trying to find anything that could lead her to the source of what she felt back home. However her attention would be taken away by the sudden scream, turning her head in time to see the blond crash into the sand. Maricul came to a full stop and just looked at the site developing itself, eyes a tad bit wide in surprise at what was brewing in front of her as the blond struggled to fear herself from the clenches of the sand.
The Serpent closed in on the stranger's location but still kept a somewhat safe distance as she still didn't know how dangerous this child could prove to be, appearances can be deceiving. Maricul watched as the object of this girl's desire turned out to be a bent coin left in the sand. Really? All that commotion over a bent coin? And people called her insane.
"Are you okay, Miss?"

It was...so beautiful! So imperfect, and yet so shiny. Even when sand threatened to fall into her eyes or opened mouth from her thick locks of hair, she just kept staring. How could someone leave a valuable little thing like this behind? Shinies had feelings too!
"Precious..."
Smiling, she began to gently pet the coin with a forefinger. Where shall she place this one amongst her collection? It could fit in with the other coins she's picked up along the streets.
Are you okay, miss?
"YOU NO TAKE SHINY!" Sasha blurted out and hopped to her feet, leaving behind a thin trail of sand. Wait, it wasn't one of those Abyss soldiers and she certainly didn't seem to be a threat, for now. The shapeshifter narrowed her eyes and pursed her lips,
"Who're you?"

Maricul's expression turned into one of dumbfoundedness at what she was witnessing. Okay so the being really liked her shiny, do not touch the shiny. That's fine Maricul wouldn't fight over a bent coin in any situation.
"You can relax I'm not interested in your shiny."
Some time after the blond had shouted she seems to have calmed down. Perhaps coming to a realization that the individual standing before her wasn't threatening her in any way. Maricul usually didn' threaten anybody without just cause anyway and crashing into the sand wasn't just cause.
"My name is Maricul and who, pray tell, might you be?"

"Good!" Sasha pocketed the coin, "Because the shiny is not interested in you!" The blonde proudly nodded her head and folded her arms. Her sleeves were puffy near the shoulders and still had sand in some areas that were caved in.
"Who am I? Why, I go by many names!" She struck a pose and began to introduce herself, "M'name's Sasha! Shapeshifter extraordinaire and common mischief maker! Those are only a few titles I go by that don't have a four letter word attached to it." She pretended to remove a hat from atop her head--because removing the black bow she's wearing would be a fuss--and bowed,
"Also, if you got any shines, prepare to have them sn-n-natched! Bwahaha! Kidding; I only take shinies that don't belong to people! I give them homes."

Everything about this girl felt like a bad cartoon show. A part of Maricul wanted to start looking around to see if there was a camera crew or something pulling her leg but she knew better than that. All the things in this world, only a matter of time before she ran into something so obviously cracked it left you dumbfounded and not sure what to say or how to react. Maricul was cracked too, the price you pay for living as long as she have, sadly she was the only one not aware of her own insanity. Though the insane are never aware of it.
"I see. I don't suppose you have any idea what has happened here? Why the area feels dried out of its energy? Dead."
The feeling was everywhere and Maricul knew it wasn't just because the city was called The City of the Dead it was something more and Maricul decided it would be best to exhaust every lead. The Serpent didn't want to miss out on the chance for information just because of the possibility the crazy knew nothing.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeelllll, ~" Sasha rocked back and forth on her feet, thinking of what happened here. The blond's time in the taverns and bars provided a lot of useful information on the region's history no matter how ancient it may be. "City of The Dead, yes? Yes, that's this place. Hmmmmm." Now, she really looked like she was trying hard to think and that was a rare thing for Sasha to do. "I know it's in there somewhere."
Think. Think. Think. City of The Dead. There was something that happened here before! When she finally recalled, her hair shot up and formed a blinking light bulb while she shouted out: "AHAH! Now I remember!" The locks fell back to her feet, "See, this place had a BIG army! Reeeeeeally big! Bigger than a lot of me's!" Sasha stood on her tip toes and flailed her arms.
"They were here to fight against those Abyss peeps, and it didn't go well; it fell within a short period of time. Now, it's CRAWLING," she grinned and wiggled her fingers in front of her face, "craaaaaaaaaaaawling with Abyssies. Lots of them! They eat your face and juggle your eyeballs! OoooOooOOOOOOoooo!"

"The Abyss are strong but..."
Maricul trailed off. She had yet to encounter those under the Abyss ranks. None have set foot on Jherra and The Serpent hoped it would stay that way. An army that strong coming into Jherrazad would probably be one of the few things in the world that would cause the Crimson Army and the Jherrazad Free Army to work together as one. But could they really have something with the power to eat away at the energy in a single area? How would one even go about taming such a being?
"What else do you know?"

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." Sasha put a finger to her lips, and again, the thinking started; this may take some time. "...let's see. Abyss are bad, other people okay, drunks smelly--no, no. I must focus." She pressed her lips together in a thin line and just before she could reach a conclusion...
"SHINY!"
Sasha dashed off towards the city, seeming to not care at all that this place could be crawling with people of the Abyss. Her arms were stretched out and she made sounds similar to that of an airplane.
"I'm gonna get you shiny, shiny, shiny! I'm gonna get you shiny! WHEEEEE!"

It was like talking to the village's special child. Luckily The Serpent had patience but perhaps the next best course of action was to take this conversation to a less open environment, where an Abyss soldier couldn't spot them. But before she could even advise that Sasha was off again on something shiny and Maricul was left in her dust, sort of speak.
"WAIT!"
This woman really was crazy. Suicidal even. Nobody entered a city occupied by the Abyss so carelessly as she was doing right now. Normally Maricul would just go on her merry way and let others attend their own funerals if they're that determined to die but this woman had information and she was no good to her dead. Using that superhuman speed she spent centuries developing Maricul ran after the child and then lunged when she got close to tackle her to the ground.

"WHEEEEEEE!" Sasha ran about the city and, in an instant, collided with someone big and solid. The hell? Sasha rubbed her head repeatedly and looked up at a very imposing looking man. Sasha didn't seem at all phased by this; she was too occupied with finding that other object,
"OH! Hi, Mr. Abyss Soldier!" Sasha beamed a smile up at him, "Have you seen a shiny? I think it came this way sooooomewheeeere--OH THERE IT IS!"
Right before the Abyss solider could strike her, she dashed off after the apparent shiny, and his fist collided with the ground. Rocks flew in all directions and numerous cracks raced along the surface. The changeling didn't seem to care that her life was in extreme peril and kept racing after whatever it was. Why was it flying?! WHY?!
Oh, it was some sort of bird and it was beautiful! Her goal was so close! Soooo close! The tips of her fingers could almost touch the soft feathers...!
WHAM! Sasha faceplants thanks to Maricul and that blasted thing flew off! Poor Sasha was almost in tears at her failure.
The Abyss Solider was, unfortunately, closing in.

Success. The vampiress was able to collide into the girl and ground her. One look at Maricul's face and you could tell she was not pleased with Sasha.
"Do you have a death wish!?"
That was when The Serpent picked up the scent of the in-coming Abyss Soldier. Getting off of Sasha and up to one knee Maricul drew a knife from her boot and threw it into the direction of the Abyss Soldier. It missed him completely, but it was not aiming for him, the exposed parts in his armor or even his head for a kill shot. The knife stabbed the shadow that the beast casted on the ground and he soon found himself paralyzed as the knife now glowed at its place on the ground. The vampiress got up to her feet and looked back at Sasha.
"Get up we can't stay here."

"Get up we can't stay her-"
"ANOTHER SHINY!" Soon as the knife landed on the shadow, she pounced onto the weapon and caressed the hilt. By all the powers that be, a miracle occurred: Sasha didn't remove the knife because she knew that was holding the Abyss soldier in place. Still. It. Was. So. Hard. To. Resist. The way it glimmered in the sun and tempted her! Her fingers caressed it like a mother would a child, only with a bit too much obsession in the mix.
"Preciooouuuusssssssssss..."
If only she could take this alone! The world would be a much shinier place.

Maricul was fighting a temptation of her own. A temptation which involved grabbing Sasha and ripping her throat out. With the way this woman behaved the vampiress figured she would be doing the world a huge favor but for now The Serpent needed her, alive. Thinking quickly Maricul drew another knife, this one with a glow brighter than the previous. Maricul held out the new knife for her to see as clear as day and whistled to grab Sasha's attention.
"Sasha, look! Shiny!"
The Serpent readied herself to move, to lead Sasha away from the Abyss and the city with the shiny now in her hand.
