A trail of body followed, each one fallen to the ground and shot in the skull, the bullet was still fresh in their heads and the smell of gunpowder covering the entire area as spiders ate away at their flesh. The scum of Jerico had rushed The Spider Queen and she was in no mood to fuck around. She had been stripped of her pride and insulted further by the one that created her, for now she had two mission objectives one of business and one of a personal matter. - Find the cause of The City of the Dead current state
- Prove her worth without having to sacrifice her humanity for power
Simple. So she thought. Maricul now stood in an alleyway as she held up a man by his throat, crimson red eyes staring into his. The Abyss was nowhere to be seen at the moment but she had a feeling that would change soon. The Serpent had heard that Ajerian was also sent out to here and Fallon Square, so she kept an eye out for them as well as she held the male closer. "Listen good, filth. I just killed your little squad of fighters, the spiders of decay eats their flesh as we speak and soon the serpent will devour what's left of the corpses. I suspect you know nothing of what happened in The City of the Dead, what ate away at the energy in that area. Who can I speak to who would know something?""I don't know! I swear!""Then you're worthless."There was that word again. Worthless. Only this time it would be Maricul turn to say it before she sank her fangs into the neck of the male, drinking him dry before dropping his corpse to the ground. "Is there no one who can assist me in my search?"

"That depends on what you're searching for."
Lamia came out of her hiding place eyes fixed on the being before her, reading the energy that was being released from the vampire and into the air as she drew closer.
"I've encountered many of your kind but never any so. . . . fascinating."
Lamia came up to her in the alley and looked down to the corpse that had been drained of all it's blood. Compared to the trail that Lamia followed coming up here he had it easy. The spiders did not claim his flesh but it was still early.
"I am Lamia."
She bowed in greeting.
"What may I call you?"

Maricul turned her head over to the hooded figure, eyebrow raised at her presence. The smell of this woman was 100% human yet she showed no fear at the death and dread which surrounded the area, or to the one that caused it. Digging deeper Maricul could sense the magic in this girl and now her lack of fear was understood. But inexcusable. We can fix that.
"You may call me The Spider Queen of Jherra I'll accept Queen for short. Now bow."
Maricul didn't wait for the girl to bow of her own free will, tapping into her own powers a little more an invisible force now threatened to bring the stranger to her knees, to force a bow out of her.
"Lamia? I believe that's Latin for Witch is it not? I recognize that power. You're a student of the Ways of Veneficus from Jherrazad aren't you?"

Lamia offered no resistance she bowed willingly making the vampiress show of power unnecessary but an impressive one.
"Yes, my queen. I am currently on my pilgrimage. I never expected I would live to meet the great Spider Queen of Jherra. If you would allow it I would like to offer my assistance on your current search."

So much respect... Too much even. That was more like it far better than the way the Spokesman had treated her back in The Dune Sea. But what could you expect from a dick that would throw you into wolves as training?
"You're no used to me unless you can tell me what happened to The City of the Dead."
Maricul turned back to the corpse as spiders appeared to begin feasting on his flesh as they did with the previous corpses on the streets.
"Or direct me to somebody who does."

Lamia eyes fell upon the corpse just as the spiders went to work on his flesh. So much power and the vampire didn't care who knows it. That was the kind of powerful being Lamia wanted to be one day. She had to find a way to get in the Queen's favor.
"Many things have happened here in recent days, my queen. Can you kindly be more specific?"

Maricul stomped on the head of the corpse, crushing it underneath the weight and power of her foot as she continued speaking.
"Something ate away at the energy back in The City of the Dead. My only theory at the time is The Legion of Abyss has a secret weapon that is capable of such power but for now that's only a theory. Do you know anything or are you as worthless as the headless corpse under my feet?"

The smell, sound and sight of the Spider Queen crushing that dead man's head made her want to vomit but she held it back, refusing to show even an ounce of weakness to the woman standing in front of her. Lamia listened intently to the Queen's speech as she thought carefully but unfortunately for both parties Lamia had no idea what the vampiress was talking about.
"Forgive me, my queen. I do not have any information for you at this time but I am far more valuable than this man was. Please if you would just give me the chance to prove myself I'm sure you will see that."

"Useless but I didn't expect much anyway."
Maricul stepped away from the headless corpse, calling back her spider familiars and leaving the smell of freshly killed humans to linger through the air as the blood from the most recent kill came moving along towards her, being absorbed by her body as she received yet another power boost from today's slaughter. Oh it was good to be a vampire.
"You're bold, woman. Fine then. I task you with the quest of finding the Blind Assassin and bringing her to me alive so I may strip the blood from her veins."
This way Maricul had a chance to restore her honor without stopping her investigation.

Alas, the great Spider Queen has granted her request to prove herself. This was going perfectly now the only thing left to attain was more information on her target. Lamia didn't dare stand up from the bow until the vampiress said she could.
"Thank you, my queen you will not regret this. What can you tell me about this "blind assassin" who has earned your scorn?"

"If you're as valuable as you claim then you should be able to find her on your own with no problems. Make sure she is in fighting condition when you bring her to me. She and I have a score to settle."
Maricul eyed the woman's hood and then realized she was still on her knees bowing to her presence. It was growing tiresome and felt too foreign for The Serpent to really enjoy it.
"Rise and take off your hood. I want to see you."

Lamia had placed her foot in her mouth it seems. She risen at the command of the Spider Queen and pulled down her hood, unveiling her bright yellow hair, Lamia entire oval heart shaped face now revealed to the vampire. The blond hair falling down pass her shoulders, strings of hair guarding the sides of her neck from view as she stood straight and proper in the face of the Spider Queen.

Such a pretty little flower. The Spider Queen wanted to pluck her and stroke her pedals but now wasn't the time. Maricul's eyes looked at her now seconds before wandering down to her neck. The Serpent approached her, now stepping to her right and running a pale hand through strings of her beautiful blond hair. Maricul then brought it back to reveal her neck as she stared at it for a moment, taking a good sniff of the blond and hearing the sound of the blood that flowed within her. Maricul then brought her lips to Lamia's ear.
"Fail me and it will be your veins I rob blood from."
Maricul tactics now were ruthless but she knew better than anybody that to get the job done some time you had to be ruthless. It was all for the greater good, so the vampire foolishly believed.

Lamai could not only see but feel the vampire's eyes burning on her. She wasn't sure whether or not to be excited by this or frightened. The vampiress now ran a hand through her hair until finally staring at her neck. Lamai kept her nerve about her even after hearing the whisper from the woman's lips into her ear.
"Of course. If I fail I will gladly lay down my life."

Well that was unexpected. Maricul dropped the strings of her hair and took a step back. A snicker could be heard coming from Maricul; that snicker turned into a cackle, the cackle turned into a snort and finally that snort became laughter as she leaned backwards while laughing at the woman. As if the woman told a really, really, really funny joke she couldn't bare at how funny it was.
"Y-you're too much! Go on! Go on now! Find the Blind Assassin and bring her to me. I will gladly lay down my life you're hilarious, witch!"
