There stood a town upon the edge of the world where walls covered every side. This town once served as the suburb to the much larger City of Ysabelle, but once Ysabelle expanded so did the town and Jerico stands now. Today, in the modern days, these walls are falling down to the Abyss insurgency. But the citizens of the city are doing a damn good job of protecting it. In a year they've watched many towns and cities falling while they still stand. Most of those whom didn't wish to fight were driven south east to Fallon Square, but those whom had a warriors heart stood proud and tall making their own militia from the scum, the police, and the random folks that passed on through. The city was mediocre in its defenses though. This is why the remains of the walls were housed by Himura Industries snipers and all through the city patrols of Himura Industries set point in what was considered strategic positioning. Every so often the roar of a Vertibird type hover craft could be heard overhead doing patrols around the city. The most feared thing in the sky so far. Tonight was still and calm. This being said, the ground quaked hard and a large hold took the center of the city dragging around buildings whilst the creature of the Abyss emerged. It being much larger than any of the buildings, and tinted with a fiery red color. What this thing was wasn't sure, it being a mutation of the Abyss plague scientists. Along with the being came the Abyss soldiers flooding from the edge of the emergence wound. The being cleaved the buildings and roared out so loudly the priests and paladins of Fallon Square could hear. On the horizon rushed the Abyss army, the Himura snipers took aim and started blasting apart the army advancing. The Vertibird Hovercraft flew fast as it could for the being at the emergence wound. It wasn't the most feared thing in the sky any longer as the winged beast took flight and swat it from the sky. The calm city had become a warzone in a matter of seconds and stood on the verge of destruction, one more step in the Abyss plot to eradicate Fallon Square. And on the mountain side stood Berith, second in command of the Abyss army, watching as the city was ripped apart.

The blood that filled the streets left a horrible stain upon his nose. He and Exion diverted from their original mission of tracking Amon when they felt the Earth shake. The two were close by and had moved into the area to meet a flood of Abyss getting gunned down at the gates. But then they heard the roar of the being within the city.
Exion nodded to Alex and the two moved quickly down the side of the mountain into the sea of the Abyss. Exion was in front and proved his legend as the most powerful pure Ajerian left by devouring the entire side of the platoon with a single swipe of his blade. Alex followed in behind him picking off stragglers with every throwing knife on his belt. Alex held ups his hand and the power that generated recalled the blades in between his fingertips.
"I think with that display we wont get shot walking into the city," Exion muttered. They moved toward the two holes in the city walls cutting down foe for foe and Exion was right, neither of them were shot at on their route to the inside of the city. And once inside the walls they were safe, not exactly.
The Himura Industries folks on the walls were strictly ordered to keep Abyss out the city no matter what happens within the walls. Alex didn't understand their dedication and figured they were either very true to their cause or brainwashed. They both witnessed the Aircraft being swat from the sky and it was Exion whom pulled at Alex's waist away from the crash. And once steady they saw the beast flying over the city.
Exion stood up and brushed his cloak off. With a small whisper his battle armor formed over the robes and his weapon morphed into something more diabolical than just a sword. The handle of the blade became elongated and turned more into a staff, whilst the blade morphed outward and around the shaft making it only attached at two points, top and bottom. The gap was filled with black energy. Today Exion stood as the most powerful being on the battlefield, and he wouldn't allow some Abyss beast to tarnish his reputation.

The massive monster swiped away several more buildings and Himura armed forces began peppering it with high power impact rounds which pierced through its molten skin. The sound of thunder boomed across the area though as the tanks rolled in close firing rounds on the beast annihilating it from the air for the moment.
As the beast crashed into the ground the Abyss under it were smashed, other continued around it flooding the streets more heavily now pressing the assault on the forces there, including the addition of Alex and Exion. The beast stood even now, molten blood splashed the ground and a roar escaped its lungs. It crushed the tanks around it swing for swing.

"First endless armies, and now building-sized monsters?"
A tall humanoid figure, clad in imposing plate armour, observed the unfolding destruction from afar. The disparate defenders of the city were putting up an impressive fight at the walls, and for the most part succeeding in keeping the Abyss foot soldiers at bay, but the enormous creature that was wreaking havoc behind their lines was relatively unopposed. The armoured warrior looked down at his helm, which was clutched in his hands and stared up at him with its angular gemstone eyes. Turning it over, he raised the final piece of his battle garb and slid it on over his head.
"I should have expected the siege engines at some point if the fodder failed..."
A groan from beneath caught the demon's attention and he looked down at the dismembered Abyss officer who was at the top of the pile of corpses upon which he was sat. Despite losing an arm and both legs, the stubborn wretch was still alive; he scratched in vain at his enemy with his good hand, his claw-like nails failing to even mark the armour they struck. The demon sneered at the poor fool from within the darkness of his helm, the unnatural glow of his eyes flaring for a moment, then placed his right foot over the soldier's head and stomped firmly.
The groaning stopped.
"Time to get to work, before that creature guts the defenders..." Standing, the armoured warrior stepped down from atop the mountain of Abyss bodies; on the way, he pulled his suitably enormous sword from its resting place in the torso of a headless mage. Rivulets of light pulsed from the lines that criss-crossed upon his armour as he released some of the power he'd been keeping reined in. Not much point in subtlety now that the city was about to go to Hell once again.
Silently, Demetrios followed the roars of the Abyss' monster.

Exion moved forward grasping his blade with both hands, each step of the imposing Ajerian was mocked by the echo of the roaring beast, "Alex, keep the Abyss knights at bay. I'll handle the monster." The abyss forces closed in around Exion and Alex but they kept their distance from Exion, knowing the legend of the Ajerian warrior very well, and knowing very well what he was capable of.
Alex on the other hand they began attacking, and with his machete he began forcing his own assault back against them.
Finally the Ajerian Exion pushed through the last of the Abyss, they truly didn't wish to face him. He eyed the giant beast and pulled his metallic mask over his face, "Today, you face Exion Ajerian, the slayer of the south, and the leader of the former Jak'li Vla'rinnyn clan here in Castillia."
Exion rushed headlong for the beast.

The ground split as the beast smashed its blade into it, from the thin crack erupt fire from under the tanks around it. Each of the tanks hit the ground at different times around Exion, over head came the call of more Vertibirds as they rained hail-fire on the beast. The Abyss continued to flood the streets from behind the enemy lines, it didn't help that the front line was now pre-occupied with the elite forces of Berith's Assassins.

Small spiders you'd barely noticed if not up close with came up from under the ground where Abyss did not occupied. The spiders moved along and began to take form until finally The Spider Queen stood clad in blue. Her eyes looking out to the fighting as they soon fell on the sword wielding dragon trashing the place.
"Been ages since I faced a dragon."
Maricul reached her left hand into her trench coat and began drawing the 9mm Bloodlust.
"Hopefully this one doesn't think it can dodge bullets at that size."
Maricul wouldn't go after the dragon straight off though, and definitely not with the 9mm Bloodlust. The ammo of the 11mm Blessing would be saved should it come down to fighting the great beast. Instead she would vanish in thin air and then reappear near the Abyss making their advance on the Ajerian (Alex) as he fought them back. Firing off from the Bloodlust against the Abyss forces. There was no love lost for the Abyss. The Seductress found them to be quite the persistent nuisance. Admirable, but still a nuisance.

Post by Sasha/ Amoura on Jan 24, 2011 17:59:36 GMT -5
"That...is a big ass dragon," Sasha said while staring down at the commotion from high up, "and a huge fight is going down." The shape shifter's arm was made entirely of a plethora of wings, which kept her aloft next to another person: Amoura. While Sasha was using her wings, the hybrid simply hovered next to her using her telekinetic abilities. "This'll be fun to watch," she dug into her bag, pulled out a pack of cheddar popcorn, opened it up, and began to munch on her snack. "But what if people die?" Sasha swung herself over and "stood" in front of Amoura, "That's a bad thing." "Does it look like I care?" Amoura threw a piece of popcorn into the air and caught it in her mouth, "It's not my job to hop into a fight when there's nothing I can gain out of it. Besides, I'm feeling lazy today, and this is better than watching television." She dug into the bag and stuffed a handful of popcorn into her mouth. "Hmmmmph!" "Here's a shiny," Amoura removed a pair of glasses that, when used, will cause the user to see a lot of rainbows, "have fun." "SHINY!" Sasha grabbed the glasses, put them on, and began to fly around Amoura while muttering a lot of "OoooOOoooo"s and "Aaaaahhhs" at the rainbows. That'll make her shut up while she watches this go down. [They're just watching everything and not getting involved yet carry on]

Exion bolted forward so rapidly that the tanks around him fell in slow motion. As the beast reared back, before Maricul even assisted Alex, the full blooded Ajerian was ontop of the Dragon, his blade digging deep into it's skull pulling back the molten flesh. And as the dragon reared back he lept off its hide and began slicing away at the beasts backside crippling its wings with every swing.
Alex capped the first of the Abyss knights to get close to him, pulling back the skull and stealing his shield as his blood rained freely. The shield was used to protect himself from the swing that came around on him from the side, as he went to swing a bullet crushed the knight, and his eyes diverted over his shoulder to the girl who had joined the fray.

The beast became enraged it barrel rolled hard at the voices in its head urging it to do so. This threw Exion from his back and it went airborne for a moment swatting one Vertibird into another then plummeted back to the ground hard once its wings proved to be rather useless. The Knights on the ground swarmed both Maricul and Alex now.
And the Assassins at the gates began overcoming those whom stood in protecting the city. There seemed to be no where these Abyss warriors would come from that they could be stopped.

The foot soldiers were no threat, generally speaking. The bottom-rung grunts and unarmoured mages were struck down almost by the half-dozen with each swing of the demon's colossal blade. Each troop that fell before him had its latent energies drained; the income of excess power was so frequent that there seemed to be a permanent haze of blue miasma being drawn from the fallen into Demetrios' armour-clad body. With each new surge of energy, he swung his sword with more force, stepped deftly around his foes with more incomprehensible celerity - he simply became a more effective killing machine.
By the time the swathe of death he'd carved through Jerico's streets brought him into the vicinity of the great dragon the Abyss had unleashed, his armour was almost aflame with the extra power he had accumulated. It was a shame most of it would be expended in the battle ahead. Noting the dragon's preoccupation with the warriors it was already fighting, one of whom Demetrios judged in both aura and appearance to be an Ajerian, the demon took the opportunity to make his first strike unopposed.
The colossal dragon crashed to the ground, its wings hanging quite uselessly and magma blood pouring from the gashes carved into its enormous bulk. Paying no heed to the tank it had crushed underfoot, the great beast turned its baleful stare upon Exion, the warrior who had damaged its wings beyond use. Unleashing a guttural roar of challenge, the Abyss monster raised its blade...
...and promptly caught a sword to the face in reply.
The jagged blue greatsword now protruding from the beast's upper jaw had been hurled at it with such force that the impact staggered it slightly and only a foot or so of the blade was exposed. Its roar of defiance twisted into an angered howl of pain and the beast turned to face whatever wretched warrior had stepped into the fray now. All it saw was a barely perceptible azure blur coming straight at its face - then the roars of pain doubled in volume. The monster clutched at the gash that had been torn open across its face, smoking lava pouring down from the jagged wound, and turned around furiously to seek out its assailant.
Demetrios was the guilty party. Magma dripped from the wicked blade of Dreadtalon, which he'd ripped from the dragon's face mid-jump, as the demon rose from his landing crouch. The energy he'd channelled into his impact blasted away the nearby Abyss troops with a shockwave of kinetic force to clear him some breathing space; now the armoured warrior stood surrounded by a mixture of grunts, officers and Assassins. Footsteps from behind alerted him to the first incoming attack, which met only death as the knight turned on the spot, swung his sword in a casual diagonal arc and shredded the incoming officer and the dozen or so soldiers behind him with a wave of raw demonic power.
Demetrios turned his fiercely glowing eyes upon the dragon for a moment as it stared down at him. It had no visible eyes, but he hoped the wound he'd inflicted was impairing its vision somehow. Another soldier came at him from the side and thrust his pike at the demon's head. Demetrios' counter was almost mocking in its hubris; he turned his body to face the grunt, backhanded the pike to the side, impaled the hapless mook upon Dreadtalon's cruel blade and swung him into the crowd with brutal force, bowling over another three soldiers.
The demon rotated on the spot, evaluating the ring of Abyss troops around him.
"Now that I have your attention..."

"Thought you could use a hand."
Maricul only had time to make eye contact with the Ajerian for a moment as the knights came their way, once again the Abyss were playing the numbers game they were so good at. The Serpent went for the knights on the left, raising up the Bloodlust and firing off six shots with two seconds in-between each bullet, the bullets tearing their way right through the eyes of each knight they aimed for as the battle waged on.

Exion used that brief moment where Demetrios blinded the beast to remount his assault he ran up the beasts tail, his blade sank deep within the spinal area of the dragon, his feet moved quickly dragging the blade through the beast as he went. Of course it was no simple task as the dragon thrashed around. He stopped at the wings and finished decapitating them in two violent and quick slashes.
The dragon would only notice him at its neck when his blade sank into its flesh.
Alex twisted around smashing the shield into the row of oncomming soldiers then turned again ducking low under a blade and knee capping the knight whom swung hard at him. His machete cut clean through the armor and knee and the shield pushed against the knight whom knocked over several others in a pressing movement. "I need no help. But the gesture is appreciated."

The dragon hit the ground and went limp as Exion drove his blade into its neck. It wasn’t dead, but it was paralyzed in every way possible. Its magma skin started to cool as its life blood spurt from the wounds delivered by the Ajerian Warlord. Indeed, Exion truly was the most feared Ajerian next to Arix. For now.
The swarms of the Abyss swathed over the city so brutally and violently that there was no militia left to honestly hold the city. Jerico was lost to the Abyss, just as Juhani was made into the City of the Dead, Jerico would become something similar. Abyss monsters had entered the fray now, beasts that were created long before man had ever walked the planet, most thought to not exist. Most overshadowed the crowds of Abyss, some were small but so numerous that they could overwhelm even the greatest of warriors.
These forces marched onward toward the gates that lead to the Bridge of Jerico. Their path was for Ysabelle.

Just as he had demonstrated on his way into the fray here, Demetrios was more than any of these lesser soldiers could handle. Swing after swing ripped limbs from bodies and sent rivers of Abyss blood cascading into the surrounding throngs as the troops flung themselves at him in foolish hope of overwhelming him with strength of numbers. Demetrios absorbed all the stray energy he could get his hands on, and at the pace at which he was killing, there was never a shortage of it. The Abyss' tactics were tragically ironic; the more foot soldiers they sent to their deaths, the stronger Demetrios would become.
But then the defences at the walls seemed to fall, and the flood gates opened onto nothing short of an invasion. The usual soldiers swarmed into the city in the thousands, reinforced by all manner of hellish monsters. Strength of numbers might be useless against him, but it would certainly be effective on this massive scale.
Quantity, it seemed, had a quality all its own.
Demetrios noted the thickening hordes of soldiers and decided it would be wise to connect with his nearby allies before he got cut off from any help and swarmed by the massed Abyss army. Dreadtalon's blade erupted into searing blue flames as he channelled a great surge of power into the weapon - then with a mighty downward swing, he unleashed a wall of seething demonic energy that tore unstoppably across the great courtyard, incinerating the soldiers in its path and even threatening to consume the paralysed dragon's head.
In the scorched wake of his onslaught, Demetrios took the opportunity to break away from his engagement and sprint down the empty scar of destruction towards the Ajerian. "Any ideas?" he asked, turning to face the approaching hordes and preparing to cut down still more as they came...
"Good question..."
No sooner had this mystery voice spoken up than the entire courtyard in front of the gathered defenders erupted into blinding explosions of energy that soundly obliterated the massed soldiers. More yet came pouring through the breaches, as expected, but the sudden clearing of space was welcome.
Demetrios turned around. Stood behind him was a tall, blue-eyed man, garbed in light leather armour and a black and silver cloak. His face was gaunt, his skin a pallid white, but his aura radiated knowledge and power. He, too, was an Ajerian; but there was something subtly different about the feel of his great power compared to the other. He somehow didn't feel as... pure.
"Exion," the robed Ajerian spoke up with a respectful tone, snapping his fingers and gesturing at the empty courtyard. The ground shook for a moment before shattering loudly, crude walls of rock rising in front of the five defenders; spanning the length of the scorched and ruined courtyard, this barrier would keep the soldiers at bay if only for a short while. "Mistress Cyris is en route with reinforcements. Your orders?"
