Zira was a little taken aback by Tori's smile it was getting far too the norm that she had a look of anger or annoyance on her face. A smile just didn't seem to compliment those features at all. Firestone's attention would soon be taken off Tori and onto the man as his voice suddenly sounded more "innocent" than his previously verses would have led you to believe. Now Zira was only watching him as he somehow manage to force his way right through the blockage and now they were as good as free. Zira had no idea what to make of this strange male as she kept near Tori, feeling safer the closer she stood to her position.

Joshua looked at the two ladies, smiling under his mask, quite proud of his little display here. He didn't respond to Tori's statement, this cave was a shit-hole, why was he even here? It was better for him to follow these beautiful women to... wherever they were going, that's the cool thing to do.
"right this way, my beauties. Step lively, we're almost through." And indeed they were, as he moved up a winding corridor the smell of fresh air started to surround, a breeze slowly started to blow.

That breeze was the best thing she's felt all day as it became more and more apparent she needed a bath at some point. As they left the cave and returned to the light of the desert Tori put out the flames of the torch but she would keep it on her person in case it was ever needed again. You never knew what could go wrong out in the big harsh light of day. "Thanks for the tour your services will no longer be required. I think we can go the rest of the way fine on our own. Zira, please resume the lead."

A wave of relief washed over Zira as they finally made their way out the cavern. After all that had happened in the short time they were in there Zira didn't want to explore the inside of another cave anytime soon. Zira looked over to Tori as she asked to resume the lead and she did so, not before looking over to Joshua, smiling and bowing her head in thanks to show him she appreciated all his help.

"I hate that cave. I'm coming too." Joshua's voice was cheerful and somewhat matter-of-fact as he declared this to Tori and Zira. These two were fun and they were nice to look at, better than the cave's winding tunnels and occasional delicious cave-spider. Besides, these girls helped him figure out how to shoot some kinda... acid rays from his hands. He's simply going to stick with them at this point.
On top of that he had to find that blind chick too, she was easy on the eyes despite being hard on everything else. And he had to prove he had mastered the fine art of punching one place to open a hole somewhere else. He demanded a mulligan. "So where we going, folks?"

Just seconds after beginning her walk to follow Zira she had stopped, turning around to face the masked man once more. "Nice try but you're not coming with us, this is where our paths end." He was useful back in the cave but she still didn't trust him and didn't like the idea of traveling with him, especially whenever they needed to stop, set up camp and sleep.

Zira turned around during the declaration by Joshua, he was so happy in his words that when Tori shot him down she felt bad for him. Zira soon approached Tori and would regret her next action as she brought her hand to touch Tori's arm, the expressions on her face telling Tori that she should reconsider her stance on that situation, having Joshua with them could prove to be useful in the coming days, but first and foremost she prepared for the woman to smack her down to the ground again for touching her.

Joshua watched the two girls, he saw the way Tori was firmly against having him there, and he saw the way Zira slowly moved over and gently touched Tori. There was a lot going on in their combined language, a lot being exchanged between these two women as he was being told he couldn't join them.
Clearly these were two lesbians, madly in love.
"no boys allowed, huh?" Joshua would need to prove that his worth would transcend their gender discrimination, that he was useful despite being just a guy. He decided to propose a challenge to Tori over this. He knew that if he showed his worth they'd keep him.
"I want to come too, so I'll make you a deal, we'll settle this with a wager." He held up his unarmored left hand. "if I can catch a bullet, fired from your gun, in my left hand, I get to come with you. I'm handy, I'm immensely powerful, and I won't get in the way of your revenge against this spider-girl from Jherra. What do you say?"
Joshua held his left hand up, in front of his chest, cupped like a catcher's mitt, he grinned to Tori and Zira, knowing he had an ace up his sleeve here, and knowing that Tori, having pistols, would consider herself a markswoman and would take him up on this challenge. He was so confident, how could it go wrong?

This time Tori only tensed up at the touch from Zira. Starting to slowly overcome those urges to lash out when anything or anyone reminded her of being violated by The Spider Queen of Jherra. Tori only looked at Zira, reading her expressions. They made her sick with how mushy they were. Really. What good would having him bring to the group? Tori's attention then went back to the male as he laid out his challenge.
"Heh. Very well if you can catch a bullet you may come with us." Tori took a couple of steps back from Zira as she drew her .40S&W pistol and aimed it at a part of the torso area that if it hits wouldn't cause any fatal injuries. Tori's eyes focused and it was a perfect aim at the desired target before pulling back on the trigger and sending the .40 bullet soaring towards the masked male.

((Zira says I can post out of turn))
"Excellent!" The gun fired, it was loud, he was just barely able to get his hands in the way of the bullet. She had adjusted the angle of her shot away from his hand and towards where the shot would be non-fatal. Joshua said he had to catch it in his unarmored hand.
he did.
"AAAAAUGH!"
He closed both his hands, his left hand into a tight fist and his right hand overtop of it. It was a dirty trick but, by god, it counted! Joshua had put his armored right hand behind his fleshy left hand. He DID catch the bullet in his left hand, but "in" was in a different context. The heat and friction of the bullet had sealed the wound, leaving a perfect hold burned in his left hand. The impact had sent shrapnel through his skin, it was going to leave a fucking BEAUTIFUL scar.
"aaahh... aaahhahaha... hehehahahahaha!" Joshua threw back his head, laughing as he held up his left hand, palm open. The .40 caliber bullet lodged in his left hand, the impact having crushed it and leaving a mark on the palm of his right hand. "Caught it! It's in my hand, it counts!" Joshua laughed a little more, the pain screaming up his arm, his hand going almost numb as his nerves flared and screamed in pain.

Zira could feel how Tori tensed up at her touch but it was heads over heels a better reaction than what happened the last time she touched her. It was good to see some progress and Zira smiled a little before pulling her hand away. Tori can be as sick as she wanted, even gag it didn't change Zira's opinion on the situation. A challenge was made and accepted as Tori stepped away and Zira just watched the event unfold. This whole experience was very tasking and she missed Jerico. It wasn't a perfect place to live by any stretch of the imagination but it was her home and when she thought about how the Abyss had attacked it, well her blood boiled in contempt for them.
The sound of Tori's gun broke her out of those thoughts as she looked over to the masked man. He looked to be in pain and even though he practically cheated Zira still showed concern for him as she went over to him. Making her attentions clear that all she wanted to do was take the hand and look it over.

Tori lowered her gun. "Cheeky bastard." Joshua had chosen his words carefully and technically he had passed her little test even though Tori interpreted what he meant in an entire different fashion. Tori hoisted her pistol and turned her back on the two as Zira now went to tend to his wound. "Very well if it means so much to you that you would foolishly get shot in the hand then you can come with us. But if you step one toe out of line we're dropping you like a bad habit. Understood?"

"like a bad, habit. Understood. You may call me Joshua, that's the name I tend to go by nowadays, May I please know your names? Since we're going to be travelling together and all." His hand didn't hurt that bad... not as much anymore anyways. He was in, that's all that mattered. He shook his hand a bit, then looked to the quiet one, she was staring at his hand. Very odd indeed.
"oh, what?" He held his hand out slowly for Zira to see, The bullet had gone clean through, and had he not put his right hand behind the left then the bullet would have passed right through and into his body. Joshua guessed there'd be no harm in letting the quiet girl take a look at his hand. "uhh..." There was no blood or anything, just a clean hole through his hand. He looked back to the brunette, she was the talker, wore the pants in the relationship.
"So where're we going?"

There was no need but Zira would do it anyway. She tore off a small piece of her shirt and wrapped it around the hand where the hole was present, smiling as she did so. It was the thought that count, no? Zira then turned away from the male and rejoined her position next to Tori as he asked his question. Zira thought about Fallon Square and then something occurred to her. Zira looked over to Tori with a worried expression, pointing her finger to Joshua mask and then shook her head. It wouldn't be wise for him to wear that when they reached Fallon Square based off the information she knew of it from Jerico.

"Commander Tori Jacobs," came the woman replied. "She doesn't speak," Tori continued pointing over to the mute, "so you can call her what you find to be suiting. I call her Sergent Sparkles personally." Tori looked over to Zira ripping off a part of her own shirt to be used as a bandage for the wound. Tori didn't think the man deserved that level of kindness but it was her choice. "As for where we're going I haven't a clue. Sparks here knows the area better than I so I'll trust she knows where she's taking me."
Tori's eyes then settled on Zira again, seeing the worry on her facial features and where she was pointing. Straight to the mask. This was where the woman's muteness became tiring. It would be so much easier if only she could speak. "What are you trying to say? That we should take off the mask?" Tori looked over to Joshua. "Sure you want to risk that, Sparks? He may be better off leaving the mask on."
