Oh, what to do? What to do? The world just doesn't appreciate shinies! Sasha placed a hand on the dagger's hilt and was about to remove it, until Maricul began to brandish a much shinier knife. Fortunately for Maricul, Sasha didn't dash on over to her to steal her prize, rather, she slowly approached while her eyes locked onto it.
"Soooo...shiiiinneeeyyy..."

Good girl. Come to Mama.
Maricul began heading back out of the city, right when the paralyzing of the Abyss beast behind her finally wore off, and he lifted up his arms to bring them crashing down on the girl once again. The Serpent were quick however, running forward and pushing Sasha out of the way, but it would be her smashed under the weight of the Abyss soldiers arms. This girl was starting to become more trouble than she were worth.
The Abyss soldier lifted up his arms and took a step back, but an already recharged Maricul was waiting for him as the 9mm Bloodlust was drawn and a single shot was fired, ripping straight through the right eye of the beast and ripping out the back of his head, being stopped by the back of his helmet and being lost somewhere in his head as a result. Ouch. The juggernaut fell backwards into the ground as Maricul looked back over to the child.

Everything happened so quick, Sasha didn't even have time to think about anything--even the shiny. The changling tumbled away, leaving dust clouds of sand in her wake, and pushed her weight up on her forearms in time to watch Maricul shoot that thing in the eye. Blood hissed out of the ruptured socket and down to the ground it fell, its face looking straight at Sasha. Curiosity got the best of her, and she crawled to the corpse to poke it's forehead.
"Mr. Abyss Soldier?"
Right after she spoke, it roared, probably in death throes. Sasha didn't know this and thought it was still alive. "EEEEEK! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!" Her hair took the form of yellow blades and plunged repeatedly into its face, sending yet more blood flying in all directions. It twitched, and collapsed, giving out its last breath.
"...phew. Where did that shiny go?"

"You!"
Maricul marched over to the girl and reached her right hand out to grab the collar of her clothes and pull Sasha towards her, Maricul's eyes narrowing over her and flashing a crimson red for a split second before returning to normal.
"You nearly got us both killed and for what!? A stupid shinning knife!"
Anger was apparent; in her eyes, in her voice and the fact her face was turning red in the midst of the yelling.

"Me!" Sasha pointed at herself and gets hauled off the ground by the collar of her dress. Instead of struggling, like most would, she stared into Maricul's eyes with a child-like curiosity. Now, why was she so angry at her? What did she do to warrant her yelling?
"Well, ya didn't have to follow me after the shiny. The way of the shiny is a very, very dangerous road!" Sasha started flailing her limbs to make Maricul let go, "Dangerous, I say! You could die if you don't keep your eye on the shiny!"

"Shut up!"
Maricul tightened her grip on Sasha but not enough to do any bodily harm, but just enough to let the girl know she wasn't playing around. The Serpent went through all this trouble to catch her and now one way or another she were getting answers, hopefully before another soldier of the Abyss came on the scene.
"You know damn well why I followed you here. Now you're going to tell me everything you know about this place. Right now!"

"Oh, this place? I know that there's a dead Abyss soldier right there!" Sasha pointed to the corpse that had ceased bleeding and twitching, "And that you're hindering me from my quest for the shinies." The girl pouted at Maricul, "...oh, wait. Everything? Well that's easy!"
Sasha squirmed more and ripped herself free from Maricul's grasp to resume telling her story. It's difficult to talk when you've got an angry woman staring down at you.
"This place was the biggest city on this continent and it had the biggest army! But the Abyss took it all down within one year. Shwoop! Dead! Gone! That's why it's City of The Dead, now! I know I'm missing one more detail, though..." Sasha patted her forefinger against her lips. During that, a large figure began to approach from behind and raised a huge axe to chop at her. The approach was slow, probably from the limp it had,
"NOW I REMEMBER! This place is occupied by the Abyss! Lots of them! They are crawling everywhere and it's not a safe area. We should probably leave before something happens."
Sasha stepped forward and the axe collided with the ground she stood on only moments earlier.
"...like that."

Finally some answers. Yet despite everything she had just learned about this place from Sasha one question still remained. What on earth ate away at all the energy around here? Was it really something in the Abyss ranks as her current theory suggested or was it something entirely different? It appeared this girl, Sasha, didn't know anything more than what she just told her, so Maricul didn't see any reason to stick around or risk her ass for the girl any further. That was when the axe came smashing down and another Abyss soldier came to attack the duo, most likely for being the cause of death to that last soldier, or just for being there. Who knew?
"Yes... Do have fun fending it off, Sasha. I declare your usefulness at it's end. Goodbye."
With that Maricul used that superhuman speed she was so proud of to flee the city before the Abyss soldier could even raise his axe again, leaving both the Abyss and Sasha to eat her dust as she moved so fast a trail of dust from the ground was cast behind her.

Did she just--? Sasha sighed and side stepped, allowing the axe to fall right beside her. This Abyss soldier was badly injured, probably from a duel or a fight, otherwise she may have been dead or worse. "I don't know what your problem is, Mr. Abyss Soldier, but I'm gonna go now." She extended her arm to the sky, her flesh bulged and small, white wings spilled out. Those tiny limbs flapped furiously and she took to the sky. That Abyss soldier was well on his way to his Valhalla and thank goodness for that.
