So far Maricul have done a very good job avoiding detection from the Abyss since leaving The City of the Dead with her renowned skills at stealth. Many of her own kind would called her a coward for not making her presence more known, for not tearing through anything that stood in her way instead of avoiding it altogether but The Serpent weren't affected by such claims. After living for so many years and enduring so many great battles the vampiress knew that if a battle was meaningless and you could avoid it, do so. She had no ego to stroke, nothing to prove to anything or anybody here. One mission was on her mind and that was finding out the cause of what has happened to The City of the Dead before her arrival.
The Dead Lands turned out to be a very appropriate title as all Maricul saw up ahead was ash, fire, dirt and death. Not much to look at, pity. Atillia was so different yet so similar to where she came from, if only the beauty around here could have stayed, if there was any beauty to begin with. The vampiress pushed those thoughts away and returned her mind to the task at hand. Her guard up The Serpent would take another step while making her way across The Dead Lands. It seems she would have to do some more research into the Abyss and hopefully that would lead her to what she wanted to find out. Suddenly as she took more step...

An explosion erupted underneath the Nosferatu's foot. Right where she stepped searing hot spikes of silver came out of the ground, looking to expose the vampire most common weakness and put her body through hell without so much as a whisper of warning. Up ahead as the wind blew was a woman clad in light red, bandages covering her eyes from the world, hand on the hilt of her Katana as she stood with a large gap between herself and the Nosferatu known only as the "Spider Queen" a small smirk bent across her face as she immediately recognized the scent of this one, hearing the explosion echo across the night's sky the half breed stood in plain sight, the field bent to her will long before the Nosferatu stepped foot on it.
"I've finally found you."

Maricul had very little time to even react to what has just transpired. The silver pierced her skin and burned through it like burning hot acid. The vampiress fell down to her hands and knees growling in agony as it felt like a fire was burning up deep inside her. The familiars running through her bloodstream was quick at work, the wounds that were created from the explosion began to heal over as The Serpent powered her way through the pain. As the dust began to settle Maricul could be seen up on one knee, her eyes fixed on the individual responsible for what had occurred. Eyes now burning a crimson red as she forced herself back up to a stand.
"WHAT THE HELL!"
Growled Maricul. Three small knives fell down the sleeve of her blue trench coat and into her hands, fitting nicely right in-between her fingers as she never let her eyes off the one clad in light red. Why had she attacked her? Surely this woman couldn't be a part of the Abyss, explosives like these weren't their style. Drawing their sword and charging in to slaughter the opposition before them, now that was their style.

So the vampire was already on her feet. As expected. If Fukari thought that would be enough to kill her she would have only bothered to plant one. The Blind Assassin's super hearing came into effect, she could hear everything around her. The sound of the wind quietly blowing through the area, the screams of the Nosferatu and even the blood that pumped through her veins. Now she had absorbed her entire scent into her nostrils, there would be no forgetting this vampire now should a miracle occur and she escaped her grasp.
Another thing caught her interest. The sound of familiars running through her bloodstream, acting as a defense against anything that threatened the humanoid form of their mistress. So not only could this one use familiars as warriors but as a defense mechanism against unwanted attacks. That smirk on The Blind Assassin's face had just turned into a grin as she could already tell this was going to be a fun night of bloodshed.
"Familiars in the blood, eh? Clever."
Fukari tightened her clenches around the hilt of her blade, taking a single step forward. She knew all too well where to step and where not to step as she remembered every mine she planted and in what location. No two mines alike.

Maricul looked surprise. How could she have heard the familiars at work? Even if you were up to point blank range of The Serpent you wouldn't be able to hear the Familiars that moved along her insides. The vampiress knew only one possible conclusion.
"Superhuman hearing, eh? A god-send for the blind no doubt."
For now Maricul only assumed she was blind as many people who could see didn't hide their eyes with bandages, it was an obvious handicap but the fact she could hear so well meant if she threw these knives she may very well be able to hear their in-coming and know right where to step to avoid them from this distance no matter how strong she threw them. Maricul would stall for now.
"What is the meaning of this attack? Surely you wouldn't risk detection from the Abyss here for a random slaying."

"You're correct but do you really have to ask?"
Fukari took another step forward, slowly but surely closing off the gap between the two warriors with each passing moment. No matter how hard the Nosferatu tried to stall there was no stopping this battle.
"After all the lives you've claimed, all the men and women you transformed into your familiars, surely you don't have to ask why somebody would have reason to take your life. It should be obvious so come at me, vampire. I look forward to doing battle with the "Spider Queen of Jherra!"

Maricul was still confused. Believe it or not Maricul didn't know why anybody would wish to attack her unless they were the scum from the Jherrazad Free Army who had even gone as far to brain wash her own daughter. In Maricul's mind she and her sister were the good guys here, not the other way around. It was that kind of screwy delusion that sets her apart from the rest of her kind. That belief she was the heroine in this story and all others that opposed her were the villains. However there was no time to wonder why this woman wanted to kill her. All that mattered was she wanted her dead.
"So you know who I am. Curious, how were you able to find me? No one in Jherra or Jherrazad has seen my face."
Excluding Ranko and the women she had passed the vampire curse to of course.

"Does it really matter? You're only trying to stall for time. Hoping that the Abyss will intrude on this little encounter of ours? How cowardly. For some reason I expected more, but I will amuse you if only for a short time."
The Blind Assassin removed her hand from the Katana's handle, seeming to have dropped down her guard but that was a mirage. Just as easily as the hand lowered could it be risen up again and the Katana drawn, ready to spill first blood.
"Relatives of a family you slaughtered found a piece of equipment you left behind in the wake of the battle. They heard about me and presented me with that piece of equipment. It reeked of your scent and that was all I needed to track you down. It wasn't easy though. You're a tough bitch to track."
Not only that but touching the piece of equipment allowed her to see Maricul's face as she stood over it. Irony had a funny sense of humor. The first person to see Maricul face was a blind woman.

There was no stalling. The Serpent knew if she wished to continue her investigation she had to fight this woman. It was now Maricul's turn to capture the scent of the woman, picking up human and demon coming from within. A half breed. How interesting. It would only be a matter of time before the vampiress learned what this half breed was capable of.
"I see. So you are here on behalf of the families of war casualties."
Three more knives slipped down her other sleeve and into her hand, these a bit more longer than the knives in her left hand and made to reach just a bit farther. The hour to fight was approaching as the wind blew more harshly to compliment the mood in the area.
"Does my headache have a name?"

"Names are meaningless for the dead."
Fukari bent her knees and brought her hand back on the Katana's hilt starving to get a little blood this fine evening.
"And far too valuable for the living!"
The Blind Assassin shot forward, after images of herself leaving a trail behind her as she picked up speed. Fukari drew her Katana and then resheathed it faster than it was drawn, slashes erupted before Maricul now, the first one going upward, second going downward, third and forth moving left and right as the last one capped it off in an uppercut slash formation. It was as if The Blind Assassin was already before Maricul swinging the Katana but she was still making her advance, drawing near and closing the gap quickly.

"Impressive."
The attacks had hit their mark, the last one even knocked Maricul back a couple of feet. Each slash had left cut wounds through various parts of her body but each wound closed over merely seconds upon opening. Once The Blind Assassin closed the gap between the two warriors The Serpent had weaved herself around the Katana blade and then counter-attack by slashing at the half breed's throat with the knives in her left hand.

The Blind Assassin's throat was sliced open, blood would blind Maricul only moments before Fukari healing abilities kicked in and closed over the wound but drops of blood was still present on her throat. Taking advantage of the opening in Maricul's last attack she slammed the Katana's hilt hard into the gut of The Serpent, following up with a Scissors Kick to the bent over vampiress.

Maricul wouldn't be blinded for very long. The blood that filled up her eyes would be absorbed by her body, a new found boost of strength thanks to the half breed's blood now kicked in right before the blow to the gut. The Serpent was still bent downward and in perfect position for that Scissors Kick but the blow overall was barely felt by The Spider Queen. She fell back, rolling backwards against the ground and luckily not triggering off another mine as she avoided the Scissors Kick and now on one knee threw the three knives in her right hand. One aimed to take off her right ear, one for the heart and the third for the stomach.

The Katana was clenched in one hand, the right hand to be exact, leaving room for the left one to breath and act accordingly. A shuriken was sent to intercept the first knife, the other two knives were knocked away by the Katana. The shuriken and knife would fall down into the ground and trigger another mine, erupting right next to Maricul, the silver spikes came for her flesh.

This was where Maricul Superhuman speed would save her life. She knew that this area was most likely crawling with mines so it was important to stay alert when anything touched the ground. Everything had slowed down and The Serpent could see every square inch of her previous attack and where the weapons were falling no matter how fast it had happened. Her eyes would see the beginning signs of an explosion about to erupt and that's when she rushed forward getting away from the reach of the blast.
The vampiress drew four daggers in both hands as she rammed herself into the blind half breed, her next strike felt like an explosion of her own has erupted as she swung her daggers towards the girl so quickly and so swiftly it was as if Maricul had razor sharp claws and right now she was about as strong as a full grown pissed off grizzly bear. She looked to end this by literally ripping her way through this blind opponent.
